Little Miracles

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Great is the Lord!

“Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” Psalm 145:3

Our Lord’s greatness is something our human minds will never be able to fully understand!  God is perfect and thank goodness that His ways are higher than ours!  How many times if left to our own devices would we really mess things up?  I know for myself it would be all the time.  It is because my God is great, perfect, and unfathomable that I am now in Texas with Ben.  If left to our own devices I’m no where near convinced this is where we would be.  But how amazing it is that God has worked all of this out so that we can bring glory to His name!

This week alone, He has blessed Ben with a good first couple days of classes.  He has blessed me with a job and He allowed me to find out that I start on Monday!  He is already blessing us with great people to be around and spend time with!  This is no where near everything that God deserves praise for in regards to our life but it’s a start!

My hope and prayer is that even in the hard times, even when life gets tough, even when we feel lonely or we face a trial that we will be able to remember that our Lord is great and unfathomable.  I hope that the joy I feel as I can see God’s hand at work will stay with me even when it feels like He’s not there and I can’t see how He’s working.  Our Lord is great and worthy of more praise than I will ever be able to give Him!

Meg

Legally a Texan!

Legally a Texan!

Today is a big day in the Little household. We got our cars inspected and registered yesterday afternoon and this morning so now we have Texas license plates! I have to take Captain America off the front of my car though because in Texas they require you to put plates on the front and the back. 😦 Oh well. Sorry Cap! I also went this morning and got my Texas driver’s license! So I really am legally a Texan now! Their process is like North Carolina though so I just have a paper copy until they mail it to me. Ben is not officially a Texan yet though since he hasn’t gotten his license yet.
In other news, today is Ben’s first day of classes! We are so grateful that God has blessed us in the opportunity to come to Texas and for Ben to go to seminary! My mind is constantly blown by this great, sovereign, all knowing God that we serve!

Just a week..

As I sit here in our office listening to Ben sing and play the piano, I am blown away by the past week.  Today marks us being in Texas for one full week and my what a busy week it has been!  This time last Sunday, we were finally eating after a day full of driving and unpacking in the hot Texas sun with my family.  We are now almost completely settled into our apartment with just some clothes boxes left to unpack.  Ben has graciously hung curtains in all the rooms and all the pictures I currently have ready to be hung at this time.  We have been grocery shopping and found three stores that each have different things that are cheaper and are not far from our apartment or each other.  We have met lots of our neighbors and are excited about getting to know them better.  I have a job and Ben has spent hours studying already.

I say all this to expound upon what an incredible and wonderful God that we have and serve!  We could not have had such a productive and great first week in Texas if it were not for our marvelous heavenly Father.  If this is what He had in store for us in the first week, I can’t imagine what He has in store for the next 2 to 3 years and I’m so excited to see where He’s going to take us on this journey of life!

Even in the midst of being away from my beloved family and friends and missing the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, God has given Ben and I so much to be thankful for and so many reasons to be joyful in Him!  While it’s only just begun, I already love our adventure in Texas and am trying to remember to thank God as much as possible.

I’m a real live grown up!

So I thought last year when I graduated from college and got married to Ben that I was a real live grown up.  While we have been financially independent over the last year and both been working, I’m convinced that we really became real live grown ups this past Thursday when we were in Texas all on our own with both of our families back in North Carolina.  While telling my family goodbye at the airport Tuesday morning was exceptionally hard, now that we’re starting to get settled into life here in Fort Worth, I’m really liking it.  I caught myself calling North Carolina home to Ben the other day and had to correct myself and am having to change my mindset.  While Asheville will always be my hometown and while it will always hold a special place in my heart because of the people that are there, home is where Ben is.  So for the next couple of years home for me is Fort Worth Texas.

In other news, I got a full time job!  For the first time in my life, I have a full time job!  This is the other part of life that is making me feel like a real live grown up.  I’ll be working in the library on the campus of Southwestern in the cataloging department.  It’s a Monday through Friday, 8-5 job and I’m so very thankful to my Saviour for providing it!

Thanking God for all His provisions as Ben and I are settling into our new home!

With love,

Meg
